The Warrant Officer's primary accountability is the service and execution of warrants. Warrants of arrest include any offense from those who have failed to appear in municipal court to answer for traffic citations to warrants obtained through criminal Investigations of serious felonies. The Warrant Officer also coordinates a group of specially trained officers accountable for the protection of visitors, defendants, attorneys, and employees of the Lakeway Municipal Court by serving as court Bailiffs. |
| In 2010 the warrant officer cleared 1777 for Class C Misdemeanors warrants issued by the Lakeway Municipal Court. In 2011 the number increased to 2860. In addition to these Municipal Court warrants, the warrant officer took part in the apprehension of 28 suspects in 2010 and 35 in 2011 that were all charged with more serious misdemeanors or felonies. |
