No, there is a Non-Member fee for each class.

3. Do I have to Pre-Pay and Pre-Register for a class?

You do not have to but most classes have a minimum enrollment requirement. If the minimum is not met the class can be cancelled. In order to guarantee that the class will be held as scheduled, we must know ahead of time that we have enough people. Please register and pay at least one week prior to the class or event date, unless otherwise noted. For on-going classes, please remember to pay prior to the first class meeting every month.

2. Do I need a permit to cut down trees on my property?

That depends on when your house was built. If your residential home was occupied on or before Oct. 21, 2002, no Tree Removal Permit is required to remove any tree - unless you are making additions to your home or extensive alterations to landscape. In that case, a tree removal permit may be required as part of the building or landscape permitting process.

If your home was built and occupied after Oct. 21, 2002, a tree removal permit may be required depending on the size and type of tree. Refer to the current Building Ordinance 2002-10-21-3, sections 17.06 and 17.07. Most trees larger than 16 inches in diameter total will a tree removal permit.

Commercial property owners and homeowners with additional questions about tree removal permits and landscape alterations should call the Building and Development Services department at (512) 314-7540.

3. When can I prune my oak trees?

You can prune your oaks anytime from July 1st through January 31st, regardless of temperature, provided all pruning wounds of all sizes on oaks are sealed immediately (within 10 minutes max.)

Routine oak pruning is prohibited from February 1st through June 30th due to high risk of oak wilt infection. Emergency oak pruning may be allowed during this period if the oak is a public safety or property hazard. Call the City Forester at (512) 608-9722 to discuss exceptions.

No, most of our parks are free and open to the public. The City Park does charge an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle for non-residents during the summer months.

The emergency number 911 will be answered by a Lakeway dispatcher in the majority of situations. At times cell phone 911 calls end up being routed to Travis County dispatch and very rarely, when Lakeway dispatchers are already tied up on other 911 calls, the call will be answered by Travis County.

This department does not manage water or wastewater. You need to call one of the water companies that services Lakeway.

A Public Works employee picks up dead animals during the department’s regular hours (7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday). Weekend and evening service is not available at this time.

Swim Center

1. How tall must you be to ride the big water slides?

Insurance and manufacturer guidlines state you must be 48 inches tall to ride our two larger slides and less than 48 inches to ride the frog slide. No exceptions.

2. Can my child wear water wings?

3. Can I bring a cooler into the Swim Center?

Yes, as long as it is a personal-sized cooler and does not contain glass bottles or alcoholic beverages.

4. What are the hours for Lap Swimming?

During the summer months there will always be two lanes available for lap swimming during open swim hours.

In the fall, winter and spring, lap swimming is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 am - 7:30 am and 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

5. Are the pools heated?

During the summer months the pools are not heated, as the average temperature is around 83 degrees due to the Texas heat.

During the fall, winter, and spring season the lap pool is heated to 82 degrees and the leisure pool is closed.
